FORSAKING SINS OF OMISSION
(mr 02/04/19)

Proverbs 28:13 KJV:  He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

1Corinthians 11:32 KJV:  But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

James 2:13 KJV:  For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

These scriptures tell us to confess and FORSAKE our sins, so we can receive mercy to triumph over the judgement and chastening that sin brings.

In particular, we are to forsake sins of OMISSION.

ALL SINS OF COMMISSION ARE A CONSEQUENCE OF SINS OF OMISSION!

For instance, if Adam had eaten of the fruit of the tree of life, he would have had the revelation of the knowledge of good and evil, like God has, without having to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and so get the knowledge by the physical experience of sin and death!

If David had not omitted the commandment of keeping the law in his mouth and heart day and night (Deut.17:14-24; 30:11-20), he would not have stayed in Jerusalem at a time when kings should be in battle (2 Sam.11:1); so he would not have seen Bathsheba having her bath and committed adultery and murder (2 Sam.11:2-27)!

So, we avoid sins of omission by using the MERCY and the GRACE of God to be faithful and triumph in keeping the laws of life and love:

Hebrews 4:16 KJV:  Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

1Corinthians 7:25 KJV:  Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

Romans 9:16 KJV:  So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 KJV:  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: (5)  And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (6)  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: (7)  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Deuteronomy 30:11-14 KJV:  For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. (12)  It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? (13)  Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? (14)  But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

1John 3:22-23 KJV:  And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. (23)  And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

John 20:31 KJV:  But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

John 13:34 KJV:  A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 13:14-15 NKJV:  If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. (15)  For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

So we are instructed BOTH in the Old and New Testaments to keep the commandments of life and love DILIGENTLY BY THE MERCY AND GRACE OF GOD THROUGH FAITH in our mouths and hearts at least once every six hours (4 times during the day and night (Deut. 11:19, Josh. 1:8, Mk.13:35, 2 Sam.6:13)) and at every opportunity as led by the Spirit (Gen. 24:27) so washing one another’s feet by the blood, the life of God and the power of the Holy Spirit to gradually perfect the love of God amongst us (Eph.4:15, 16).

OMITTING DOING THIS, will lead to sins of commission, just like it did for Adam in the Garden of Eden when OMITTING to eat of the tree of life made him and Eve vulnerable to eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

In fact God again, like He did for Adam and Eve, has set before us DAILY the ‘tree’ of life and the ‘tree’ of evil:

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 KJV:  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: (20)  That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Today, the tree of life is the Lord Jesus Christ THROUGH HIS WRITTEN WORD (Jn.1:1-4) BY THE REVELATION (1 Cor.2:10, 2 Cor. 4:6) AND POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT:

Proverbs 2:6 KJV:  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his  mouth  cometh knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 3:13 KJV:  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

Proverbs 3:18 KJV:  She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

2Corinthians 3:6 NKJV:  who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

To OMIT keeping the Word of life and love in your mouth, heart and actions day and night as instructed above is to CHOOSE DEATH BY DEFAULT!

Therefore let us choose life and so FORSAKE THE SINS OF OMISSION!

Selah!
