CLEANING WITH THE BLOOD OF JESUS 2
(week 50/14)
OLUBI JOHNSON

In our article last week, we saw how the CONSISTENT CLEANSING OF OUR SPIRITS BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS will give us CONTINUOUS ACCESS TO INCREASING MEASURES OF THE LIFE OF GOD.

This week, we will see how to use the increasing measures of the life of God to clean out the sin-nature from our souls and bodies and ultimately acts of sin in our conduct!

Firstly, it is instructive to note that the blood of Jesus does NOT AUTOMATICALLY cleanse us: we have to activate its cleansing power BY FAITH, by confessing our sins with an HONEST and HUMBLE heart:

1John 1:7-10 KJV: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.  (8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  (10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

So, we simply say ‘Father I confess OUR (not just my) sins to CLEAN WITH THE BLOOD’ and the fountain of the blood of Jesus flows into our spirits to cleanse us and ALL those we forgive that are connected to us.

1John 2:1-2 KJV: My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:  (2) and he is the propitiation for our sins: and NOT FOR OURS ONLY, BUT ALSO FOR THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD.

John 20:23 KJV: Whosoever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whosoever sins ye retain, they are retained.

1John 5:16 KJV: If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

This can also be done equivalently by asking for mercy by the blood in the name of Jesus: we simply say ‘In Jesus Name we have life, Lord have mercy on us BY THE BLOOD’ based on:

John 20:31 NIV: But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV: Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith (in His name and blood) we profess.  (15) For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.  (16) Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive MERCY and find GRACE to help us in our time of need.

As we have access to INCREASING measures of the life of God by the blood of Jesus, we then use the power of the Holy Spirit through praying in the Spirit with travail (or groanings) to ‘pump’ the power of God into our souls and bodies; that power then flushes out (by reversing in: reconfiguring the distortion in the sin-nature and so reconverting it back to the divine nature) the sin-nature from our souls and bodies.

Romans 8:10-14 NIV: But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.  (11) And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.  (12) Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. (13) For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live,  (14) because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Romans 8:26-29 NIV: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  (27) And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.  (28) And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  (29) For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

It is instructive to observe this sequence of operation:

THE BLOOD->THE LIFE OF GOD (ZOE)->THE POWER OF GOD (DUNAMIS)->ULTIMATE PERFECT CONDUCT (ZERO SIN-RATE!)

The blood gives access to the life of God, the life of God is then converted to the power of godliness as we confess the Word and pray in tongues and groanings; the power of Godliness then empowers us to act like God in thought, word and deed!

As I practiced this over the last 35 years in my personal experience, my sin-rate dropped gradually: from say 1000 a day (using an approximate figure to illustrate) BEFORE I was born-again to 100 after I was born-again (1979); then as I prayed more in the spirit daily to 50 (1979-1983); then as I used the life of God in greater measure, more efficiently using life scriptures to 25 (1983-1992); then as I used the blood of Jesus more frequently to cleanse sin, walking more in love and forgiveness to 10 (1992-2006); then as I prayed more to perfect the love of God daily, using 1 Cor. 13.4-8  more efficiently (I had been using it daily since 1980, but not as efficiently) by the blood, the Word and the Spirit to 5 (2006-2014). I now go between 0 and 5 daily (5 on bad days when I do not pray properly).

So, let us EFFICIENTLY clean with the blood (Heb.13.20-21) and then use the Word and the Spirit to perfect the love of God in us!
