God Possessed
(week 01/04)
Olubi Johnson

Once again, we wish you all a Christ filled New Year in which you will be consolidated in the Kingdom of God, prepared as a vessel of gold or silver by walking, as a daily habit, in the fear and the love of God.

We have often heard about people being demon possessed like the madman of Gadara:

Mark 5:15 NKJV: Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.

Now, God’s purpose for us is to be possessed by the Holy Spirit. However, the Holy Spirit, unlike the devil, does not possess by deceit or against our free-will to oppress us.

He will only possess us to the degree that we permit Him to and His possession of us will bring us peace of mind, joy, strength, health and abundant material and financial provision.

God wants to possess us spirit, soul and body:

1 Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV: Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The possession of our spirit, soul and body is God’s legal right as He bought us with the price of the precious blood and life of His Son, Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV: Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Now, even though, it is God’s legal right to possess us, because He is a gentleman He will not take forcible possession, rather we have the moral responsibility to give Him possession of our spirit, souls and bodies.

Not to do this is actually illegal, since we are not our own and belong to God having being purchased by Him.

Ephesians 1:14 NKJV: who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

God in this 3rd day wants to redeem or to take possession of His purchased possession and we have the legal responsibility to give Him what is rightfully His.

How then do we do this?

We allow God to possess us by:

Filling our spirit, souls and bodies with His life, through daily asking God for His life, reading, studying, confessing and practicing His Word and praying in the spirit.
