Increasing God’s Government
(week 26/04)

Isaiah 9:7 NKJV: Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end.

Here, the scripture tells us that, ‘of the increase of His government there shall be no end’.

This means God’s government has been limited and so is gradually increasing.

What is God’s government anyway, and why has it not been absolute (since God is omnipotent), therefore needing increase?

God’s government is the manifestation of the dominion or rule of the will of God in the earth.

Because of the fall of man and the entry of sin into the world the will of God has, and is not, been done in many places and in many lives on the earth.

This is why the Lord Jesus asked us to pray ” thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done as in heaven, so in earth.” (Lk. 11.2).

However, God desires to rule in the Kingdom of men and He does this sovereignly through the prayers of His people as we see Him do through Daniel in Babylon:

Daniel 4:32 NKJV: And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.”

The reason why God wants His dominion or government to increase in the earth is that without His dominion in the earth evil will prevail and destroy the earth.

Revelation 11:18 NKJV: The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth.

For God’s dominion or government to increase in the earth He needs Christians who through prayer become His legal instrument of war to overcome or dethrone the dominion of Satan in the earth.

Jeremiah 51:20 NKJV: You are My battle-ax and weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces;With you I will destroy kingdoms;

Isaiah 41:15-16 NKJV: “Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth; You shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, And make the hills like chaff. 16 You shall winnow them, the wind shall carry them away, And the whirlwind shall scatter them; You shall rejoice in the LORD, And glory in the Holy One of Israel.

James 5:16-17 NKJV: Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

We need to understand that God cannot do anything legally on the earth unless He does it through man, because God gave the dominion of the earth to man:

Genesis 1:26-28 NKJV: Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Psalms 115:16 NKJV: The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’s; But the earth He has given to the children of men.

So, to increase God’s government in our personal lives, homes, cities, nations and the earth we need to make fervent effectual prayer the priority of our lives as God reigns through us when we pray.
