Writing the Vision
(week 27/04)

Proverbs 29:18 NAS: Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is he who keeps the law.

Proverbs 29:18 NKJV: Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.

Here, the scripture tells us that where there is no vision or revelation of God ‘s purposes the people of God will cast off restraint.

In other words, it is the revelation of God’s purposes, plans and rewards that cause us to restrain or discipline ourselves to do the will of God.

1 John 3:2-3 NKJV: And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

This hope is a vision or revelation of Christ perfected in us: the hope of glory.

Colossians 1:27-28 NKJV: To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

How then do you get this vision and write it upon your heart so it continues to restrain and motivate you?

Habakkuk 2:1-3 NKJV: I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected. 2 Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

Here, the Bible reveals to us that we get the vision by watching in the place of prayer in the spirit and praying for the spirit of wisdom and revelation with an attitude of the fear of the Lord:

Ephesians 6:13-18 NKJV: Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints–

Ephesians 1:15-17 NKJV: Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

We write the vision upon our hearts by constant (i.e. daily as a habit) prayer, meditation, confession and practice of the scriptures God has used to give us the vision or revelation, and as we do this we will run with the vision and ultimately fulfil it in its fullness.
