OVERCOMING INIQUITY 2
(week 47/13)
OLUBI JOHNSON

In our article last week, we saw that iniquity is lawlessness: not keeping God’s spiritual law of life and love by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Passive iniquity is omitting keeping spiritual law; active iniquity is breaking the moral law encapsulated in the Ten Commandments and summarized in the law of love:

Romans 13:9-10 NKJV: For the commandments, “YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY,” “YOU SHALL NOT MURDER,” “YOU SHALL NOT STEAL,” “YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS,” “YOU SHALL NOT COVET,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”  (10) Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

This week, we will see in more detail how to keep the law of life and love by the power of the Spirit.

We are to keep the commandment of life and love from our hearts through our mouths and actions DILIGENTLY throughout EACH day, so ensuring a constant flow of God’s power into our souls: will, mind, emotions; bodies and circumstances to enable us to obey and please God CONSISTENTLY.

Deuteronomy 30:14 KJV: But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Summarizing this means we keep God’s commandments by the blood (1 Jn. 1.7-10), the Word (1 Jn. 5.6) and the Spirit (1 Cor. 14.5):

(1) At least once every 6 hours:

Deuteronomy 6:7 KJV: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

This will then enable you to pray

(2) At every opportunity:

Ephesians 6:18 AMP: Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).

Doing this will in turn enable you to pray

(3) At every temptation:

Matthew 26:41 NIV: Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

Luke 21:36 KJV: Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

As we do this, we will fulfill and experience:

Proverbs 21:21 KJV: He that followeth after righteousness (right-standing by the blood) and mercy findeth life, righteousness (right-doing by the life and power of the Spirit), and honour.
