THE FLOOD OF HIS COMING
(week 42/12)
OLUBI JOHNSON

The coming of the Lord back to the earth is in three stages:

1. His coming in us in the perfection and fulness of Christ:

2 Thessalonians 1:10 KJV: When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

Ephesians 4:13 KJV: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Ephesians 4:15 KJV: But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

1John 4:17 KJV: Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

1John 2:5 KJV: But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

These scriptures show us that we are to grow up spiritually by perfecting the love of God in us to be exactly like the Lord Jesus was in this world (not just when we get to heaven).

2. His coming for us in the rapture or ‘catching away’:

Revelation 12:5 KJV: And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 KJV: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

3. His coming with us to destroy the armies of the anti-Christ and begin the millennial reign:

Revelation 17:14 KJV: These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Revelation 19:14 KJV: And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

Revelation 20:6 KJV: Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

We are now in the season of first section of His coming: His coming in us.

This coming in us will be like the flood of Noah:

Matthew 24:37-39 KJV: But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  (38) For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,  (39) And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

As the Lord comes in us in the perfection and fulness of Christ He will release a flood of His power that will firstly (Mt. 13:30) bring vengeance (Is. 61:2) and judgment upon the rebellious church who, like Saul, have stubbornly (1 Sam. 15:22-23) refused the instruction (Ps. 50:16-17) of perfecting the love of God (1 Jn. 2:5) and so have not forsaken (Pr. 28:13) the idolatry of covetousness (Col. 3:5).

Isaiah 35:4 KJV: Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you.

Isaiah 28:17-18 KJV: Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.  (18) And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

This vengeance will smite the ‘Saul’ leadership and cause many of their followers (two-thirds of the Church as it is presently (November 2012) constituted to be ‘cut off’ and die spiritually (not necessarily physically, though in some cases it will be physical death):

Zechariah 13:7-8 KJV: Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.  (8) And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

This ‘cutting off’ of the two-thirds will not happen all at once, but will take place gradually over time, just like the dying of the rebellious elder generation that came out of Egypt (Num. 14:28-37) took place over 40 years, though some (the 10 spies that brought the evil report) died immediately (Num. 14:27). So shall it be now that some will die physically immediately. This immediate death of some will cause a prophetic ‘cry’ of His coming in vengeance in Church to be proclaimed in the church fulfilling:

Matthew 25:6 KJV: And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Isaiah 58:1 KJV: Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

The good news in all of this is that some of those that die spiritually and so fall away can like the prodigal son (Lk. 15:11-13) return and so rise again (Lk. 15.18-32; 2:34) and be saved though they would suffer loss of the reward (1 Cor. 3:11-15) of manifesting the glory of God.

Almost immediately after the vengeance starts, there will also be release of glory that will exalt and so reward those in the ‘ark’ of the perfection of the love of God.

In our article next week, we will look at this flood of vengeance and glory in more detail.
