THE SPIRIT OF FAITH
(week 06/17)
OLUBI JOHNSON

2Corinthians 4:13 KJV:  We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

Hebrews 11:1 AMP:  NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

The spirit of faith is an ATTITUDE of faith: a state of mind in which we are CONSTANTLY perceiving as real fact the invisible realities of spiritual things: ‘seeing’ the invisible.

It is vital to IMBIBE and MAINTAIN this spirit of faith CONSTANTLY so that ALL we THINK, SAY AND DO are done in the spirit of faith because the scripture says:

Romans 14:23 KJV:  And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

So, whatever we do MUST be done with a spirit or attitude faith and assurance of God’s approval.

How then do we practice CONSTANTLY having the spirit of faith?

By ‘seeing’ Him that is invisible and ‘looking at the things not seen’:

Hebrews 11:27 KJV:  By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

2Corinthians 4:18 NIV:  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

We practice this practically by ‘watching’ whenever we pray.

Colossians 4:2 KJV:  Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

Luke 21:36 KJV:  Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

What do we ‘watch’? The invisible realities of the spiritual world.

In particular we watch: visualize or have the understanding in our minds of

  1. The presence of the 3 Persons of the God-head: in front of you: the Father (Revelation 4.2, 3), the Lord Jesus at His right hand (Revelation 1.13) and the God the Holy Spirit (Ezekiel 8.2, 3) at your right hand (Psalms 16.8, 121.5). This fulfills

John 14:23 KJV: Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

  1. The sprinkling of the blood of Jesus to cleanse (on our navel region symbolizing our connection to God, as it does our connection to our natural mothers) us from all unrighteousness so that the life of God can flow maximally unhindered into our bellies (symbolizing our spirits John 7.38-39) when we confess our sins (1 John 1.7-10).
  1. The flow of the life of God as living into our bellies and converted to power from our bellies into our chest region and from there out of our mouths into the air to create and bring into physical manifestation the answers to our prayers.
  1. The operation and activity of God’s angels who are working to create and bring into physical manifestation the answers to our prayers by manipulating the activities of men and circumstances. However we MUST not try to pray to or worship angels: we pray to God and speak His Word, which prayers and Word His angels now go and execute (Psalms 103.20).

As we practice ‘seeing’ these realities whenever we pray, we will imbibe and maintain the spirit of faith!
