Fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles 2
Olubi Johnson

In our article last week we saw that we have experienced the fulfillment of the feasts of Passover and Pentecost. We are now expecting the fulfillment of the feast of Tabernacles in which we are to experience the outpouring of the fullness of the Spirit without measure as it was in the life and ministry of Jesus. We are to see the fullness of the character and the power of Christ in manifestation through individual men and women in the church (John 14: 12, Eph. 4: 13-15, 1 Jn. 2: 5).

The time of the fulfillment of this feast is now at hand. We know this by discerning the time(Luke 12:56)and understanding from the scriptures like, Daniel, the number of years or the times and seasons (Dan. 9:2, 1 Thess. 5:1).

Now, is this outpouring going to be automatically poured out on all Christians or are there conditions that we must meet to be partakers of this imminent and greatest outpouring of the Spirit that the world has ever seen? In our article this week we will answer these questions from the scriptures.

Imminent, Sequential Fulfillment of Tabernacles

The fulfillment of the feast of Tabernacles is reserved for this 3rd. day. We are now in the year 2002 so the fulfillment of this feast is imminent.

Now, the feast of Tabernacles is preceded by the blowing of trumpets and the Day of Atonement.

The fulfillment of these 3 events is revealed to us presently by the Holy Spirit from Joel 2.

Traditionally Joel 2 has been used to explain the fulfillment of Pentecost. This is correct as revealed in Acts. 2:16-21. However Pentecost was only a partial fulfillment of the entire context of Joel 2.

Trumpets

In particular in Joel 2: 1, we see the declaration of the blowing of trumpets.

Joel 2:1
Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
(KJV)

Isa 58:1
Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.
(KJV)

This blowing of trumpets, which is symbolic of prophetic messages warning of the dawning of the day of the Lord with severe judgement coming on the church, is presently being fulfilled in this and other like messages that are currently being declared by God’s prophets all over the world.

Day of Atonement

In Joel 2:12 we see the call to fasting, prayer and repentance which fulfils the essence of the Day of Atonement.

Lev 23:27
Also
on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
(KJV)

Joel 2:12-13
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
(KJV)

Here in Lev. 23:27 the Day of Atonement is characterized by the affliction of our souls and an offering made by fire unto the Lord.

The affliction of our souls speaks of fasting (Ps. 69:10) and the offering made by fire speaks of intercessory prayer in the spirit that, as it were, burns up the spiritual impurities in our flesh (Mark 9: 47-49, Rom. 12: 1, 8: 26, Luke 3:16).

In Joel 2:23 we see rejoicing of the children of Zion which fulfils the feast of Tabernacles.

Lev 23:39-41
Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month,
when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
(KJV)

Joel 2:23
Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
(KJV)

We see that the feast of tabernacles is characterized by rejoicing because of the ingathering of the harvest of fruit at the end of the year. In same way at this time the church will rejoice because of the manifestation of the fullness of the fruit of the Spirit and the power of God in our lives.

In Joel 2:28 we see the rejoicing of the fulfillment of the feast of Tabernacles followed by a universal outpouring of God’s Spirit.

Joel 2:28-30
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
(KJV)

Isa 8:18
Behold,
I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
(KJV)

This outpouring of the Spirit in the feast of Tabernacles will be far greater than the outpouring of the Spirit that we have experienced hitherto in the feast of Pentecost.

The outpouring of the Spirit in Pentecost was the first fruits or earnest anointing.

The outpouring of the Spirit in Tabernacles is the outpouring of the full harvest or the Spirit without measure that Jesus had operating in His life and ministry.

It is clear that the Christians that will partake of this great outpouring will be those who hearken to the voice of the trumpet: the present day prophetic ministry that calls us to seeking God with all of our hearts in regular fasting and intercessory prayer in the Spirit.

Therefore to be a partaker of these things it is necessary now to seek God with all your heart in regular fasting and intercessory prayer in the Spirit not just for some carnal or physical blessing but for developing the fruit of the Spirit and manifesting the power of God to deliver the creation that has been groaning and travailing in pain up till now (Rom. 8:19-22).

The answer to the spiritual, social, political and economic problems the world is currently facing and that are threatening the very existence of this planet at this time lies in the present fulfillment of the feast of Tabernacles.
