HASTENING HIS COMING
(week 46/12)
OLUBI JOHNSON

We are in the season of the coming of the Lord Jesus in us in His perfection and fulness. This coming will be like the flood of Noah releasing the power of the Spirit without measure that will bring destruction to the rebellious and glory and exaltation to the meek and lowly.

1 Corinthians 5:4-5 KJV: In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,  (5) To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1 Peter 5:6 KJV: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

That is why this 3rd day is called the day of vengeance (Is. 61:2) and the great and terrible day of the Lord (Joel 2:1-11): great for the humble; terrible for the proud and rebellious.

However, the exact time that this glory will suddenly appear will depend on what we do:

2Peter 3:12 NIV: as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.

So what we do can either speed up or slow down the coming of the Lord; why?

The coming of the Lord in us in the perfection and fulness of Christ is dependent on the church fulfilling the conditions of growing into the perfection and fulness of Christ:

Ephesians 4:11-15 KJV: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;  (12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:  (13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:  (14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;  (15)  But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Speeding up the time of His coming in us will reduce or redeem the evil days of human suffering because many people will be liberated: saved, healed, delivered, prospered and discipled by the manifestation of the sons of God:

Ephesians 5:16 KJV: Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Romans 8:19-23 AMP: For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship].  (20) For the creation (nature) was subjected to frailty (to futility, condemned to frustration), not because of some intentional fault on its part, but by the will of Him Who so subjected it–[yet] with the hope [Eccl. 1:2.]  (21) That nature (creation) itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and corruption [and gain an entrance] into the glorious freedom of God’s children.  (22) We know that the whole creation [of irrational creatures] has been moaning together in the pains of labor until now. [Jer. 12:4, 11.]  (23) And not only the creation, but we ourselves too, who have and enjoy the firstfruits of the [Holy] Spirit [a foretaste of the blissful things to come] groan inwardly as we wait for the redemption of our bodies [from sensuality and the grave, which will reveal] our adoption (our manifestation as God’s sons).

Isaiah 2:2-3 KJV: And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.  (3) And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Isaiah 25:7-9 KJV: (7) And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.  (8) He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. (9) And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

So we are to hasten or speed up the time of His coming in us in His glory by diligent continuance in well doing:

2Peter 3:14 KJV: Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Romans 2:7 KJV: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
