TEMPORAL RESURRECTION OF THE MORTAL BODY
(week 10/16)

OLUBI JOHNSON

2Corinthians 4:10-11 KJV:  always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. (11)  For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

Philippians 3:10-11 AMP:  [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope] (11)  That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].

Romans 8:11 NKJV:  But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

These scriptures reveal to us the reality of a temporal resurrection of our mortal bodies IN THIS LIFETIME!

It is the will of God that the life of God IN FULL MEASURE be made MANIFEST in our mortal bodies in this lifetime causing the redemption of our bodies and brains.

We already have the life of God in a measure (Rom.12.3) being made manifest in our mortal bodies when we speak in tongues (Act.2.4) and experience divine healing (Prov.4.22). However, God NOW wants it to be made manifest in FULL MEASURE!

This will result in a manifestation of God’s glory that will attract the attention, admiration and reverence of all men; fulfilling the following and many other scriptures:

2Thessalonians 1:10 NKJV:  when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

This speaks of Christ coming in us in His perfection and fullness and not just only at the rapture.

Isaiah 45:14 NKJV:  Thus says the LORD: “The labor of Egypt and merchandise of Cush And of the Sabeans, men of stature, Shall come over to you, and they shall be yours; They shall walk behind you, They shall come over in chains; And they shall bow down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying, ‘Surely God is in you, and there is no other; There is no other God.’

Deuteronomy  28:10 NKJV:  Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you.

Now, why is it that we must FIRSTLY carry about in our bodies the dying of the Lord Jesus BEFORE we can experience the manifestation of the FULLNESS of the life of God in our mortal bodies?

Why are we always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake?

God allows us to be delivered unto death (meaning to be attacked by Satan with the purpose of killing us physically) to give God a LEGAL basis to punish Satan and his cohorts forever in the lake of fire:

2Thessalonians 1:5-6 NKJV:  which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; (6)  since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you,

2Thessalonians 1:9 NKJV:  These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

It is instructive to note that while we carry in our bodies the dying of the Lord Jesus: experiencing the fellowship of His sufferings and being made conformable unto His death: WE WILL NOT DIE physically.

We will die to self: crucifying the lusts of the flesh by the power of the Holy Spirit; doing this will require physical discipline to deny self and legitimate pleasures (sleeping, eating, etc.) to give extra time in prayer and the Word fulfilling

1Corinthians 15:31 NKJV:  I affirm, by the boasting in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

Luke 9:23 NKJV:  Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Romans 8:13 AMP:  For if you live according to your old nature, you will certainly die; but if, by the Spirit, you keep putting to death the practices of the body, you will live.

As we practice doing this, we will FEEL sometimes to some bearable degree (1 Cor10.13) in our bodies, the weaknesses and pains of physical death as revealed in

2Corinthians 4:12 NKJV:  So then death is working in us, but life in you.

2Corinthians 4:16 NKJV:  Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

Why does God allow us to feel these weaknesses and pains?

To give a PERMANENT DEATH BLOW TO PRIDE IN OUR HEARTS: so that when the life of God in FULLNESS IS ULTIMATELY made manifest in our mortal flesh, we will REMAIN HUMBLE and treat other men with mercy, having been touched with the feeling of their infirmities like the Lord Jesus was with ours (Heb.4.15).

How does FEELING WEAKNESS AND PAIN remove pride from our hearts?

Ecclesiastes 7:3 MSG:  Crying is better than laughing. It blotches the face but it scours the heart.

Ecclesiastes 7:3 AMP:  Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made whole.

Proverbs 20:30 NKJV:  Blows that hurt cleanse away evil, as do stripes the inner depths of the heart.

2Corinthians 12:9 NKJV:  And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

The good news in all of this, is that though we will FEEL these weaknesses and pains for a while, they will not overwhelm us: we will be able to bear and ultimately overcome them by the power of the Holy Spirit:

Proverbs 18:14 AMP:  The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear?

1Corinthians 10:13  No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

God allows all this to happen by diverting a significant measure of the life and power of God that you are receiving and releasing through prayer to keep those in your sphere of influence alive and blessed fulfilling

2Corinthians 4:12 NKJV:  So then death is working in us, but life in you.

Now, once the work of permanent humility has been achieved in the heart through the feeling of the weaknesses and pains, God will SUDDENLY allow the FULLNESS of the life God to be made MANIFEST in our mortal bodies permanently: the daily renewing of the inner man will now be made manifest in the outer man so fulfilling:

Malachi 3:1 KJV:  Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall SUDDENLY come to his temple (our physical bodies (1 Cor.6.19)), even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

1Peter 5:10 NKJV:  But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

Selah!
