OPENING THE SCRIPTURES 2
(week 25/08)
Olubi Johnson

In our article last week we saw that God is opening the scriptures to us in the end-time so that we can see and fulfil God’s purposes and plans for us: for our personal lives and for giving us all the treasures of knowledge and wisdom.

In particular God is giving and will yet give to the Church all the treasures of knowledge and wisdom that will solve the scientific, environmental, political, economic and social problems the world is currently facing.

This deposit of the treasures of knowledge and wisdom will make the church the most powerful financial institution on the earth because like Joseph and Solomon, all the earth will come to the church to buy this ‘corn’ of knowledge and wisdom, causing the church to be able to lend to many nations:

Deuteronomy 28:11-14 (ESV): (11) And the LORD will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground, within the land that the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. (12) The LORD will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. (13) And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them, (14) and if you do not turn aside from any of the words that I command you today, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Isaiah 2:2-3 (ESV): It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, (3) and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem .

Genesis 41:57 (ESV): Moreover, all the earth came to Egypt to Joseph to buy grain, because the famine was severe over all the earth.

1 Kings 10:23-25 (ESV): Thus King Solomon excelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. (24) And the whole earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind. (25) Every one of them brought his present, articles of silver and gold, garments, myrrh, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year.

Matthew 12:42, Colossians 1:27 (ESV): The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here: To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

So we should be strongly motivated to ‘open’ the scriptures because of the great knowledge and wisdom hidden in them.

In fact, we should be more motivated to ‘open’ the scriptures than the seeking of natural knowledge to get financial and material gain:

Proverbs 2:1-10 (ESV): My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, (2) making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; (3) yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, (4) if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, (5) then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. (6) For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; (7) he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, (8) guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. (9) Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; (10) for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;

Proverbs 3:13-14 (ESV): Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, (14) for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.

In our article next week we will see how to get this wisdom and knowledge from the written Word by opening your understanding.
