Following Elijah
(week 16/03)
Olubi Johnson

In this 3rd. day there will be a great manifestation of the glory, and judgement, of God in the Church. This will be a measure of glory and judgement that has never been seen before, according to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Before this happens, however, God has released an end-time prophetic Elijah ministry to prepare the Church for this great outpouring of glory, power and judgement.

Malachi 4:5-6(KJV): Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

The primary objective of this Elijah ministry is to turn the hearts of God’s people to the fear of God: when we have the fear of God then spiritual fathers will care of the spiritual well being of their children and the children will submit to their fathers.

This Elijah ministry is already in operation and, in fact, has been for many years now. Its objective is being realised in a remnant of the Church, even though a great majority of the Church have rejected this Elijah prophetic ministry because its emphasis is not on material and physical blessing.

Like John the Baptist, the Elijah ministry is not doing great outward physical miracles, but it is doing a great work in the hearts of God’s people, turning their hearts to the fear of God.

John 10:41(KJV): And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.

However, the time has come for the Elijah ministry itself to be translated “to heaven” (2 Kings 2. 1) to begin to operate with heavenly authority and power, like Jesus did when He was on the earth (John. 3. 12, 13), and so do the works that Jesus did, and even greater works (John. 14. 12).

For those whose hearts have been turned by the Elijah ministry, there still remains another task: to follow Elijah to receive the double portion: which typifies the outpouring of the Spirit without measure that was on the Lord Jesus Christ Himself (John. 3.34). These people will partake of a measure of the anointing on the Elijah ministry that has been “translated to heaven” as explained in the above paragraph.

The combination of this transformed Elijah ministry and the children following them will release a staggering manifestation of signs and wonders in the Church such has never been seen before.

Isaiah 8:18 (KJV): Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

This release of power and glory will utterly destroy the influence of the “spirit of Jezebel” in the Church that has hitherto hindered the development of God’s people into the perfection and fullness of Christ.

The “spirit of Jezebel” primarily operates in rebellion (1 Samuel. 15. 23) against God’s Word that instructs us in the fear of God to grow into the perfection and fullness of Christ. This instruction of God’s Word comes through the present day prophetic Elijah ministry.

This truth is typified by the fact that Elisha who followed Elijah and received the double portion anointing was the one that anointed Jehu as King of Israel who later on killed Jezebel (2 Kings 9.6-10).

The question now is how to recognize and follow Elijah.

We will see how to do this in our next article.
