Developing Divine Greatness
(week 15/05

It is our destiny not just to be in the Kingdom but to be great in the kingdom.

Matthew 5:19 NKJV: Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

This is our destiny in Christ as the seed of Abraham:

Genesis 12:1-3 NKJV: Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

Galatians 3:29 NIV: If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

To be great in God means you will also be great in whatever you do.

This is why if you become great in God you will not only be blessed but you will be a blessing and all the families of the earth will be blessed through you according to the promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:3 quoted above.

A good example of this is David.

2 Samuel 7:8-9 NIV: “Now then, tell my servant David, ‘This is what the LORD Almighty says: I took you from the pasture and from following the flock to be ruler over my people Israel. 9 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men of the earth.

David became great in God and became a blessing by receiving the plans for and making provision for the building of the temple. Furthermore, all the families of the earth have been blessed through David’s writings in the Psalms.

Now, how then do you become great in God?

1. By Growth in love:

Mark 4:30-32 NKJV: Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? 31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; 32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.”

Ephesians 4:15 NKJV: but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head-Christ

So, to become great in God we need to, as a daily habit, speak the truth in love and practice divine love as revealed in 1 Cor. 13.4-8.

2. By using your spirit to serve others:

Matthew 20:26-28 NKJV: Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you let him be your slave– 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Romans 1:9 NKJV: For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son,

We serve our brethren with our spirits by ‘washing their feet’: forgiving their sins, asking God to give life to them and praying for them in tongues when we see them ‘dirty their feet’ by sinning.

The more saints you serve by washing their feet, the greater you become in God.

This is because the capacity of your spirit becomes enlarged as greater measures of life are channeled by God through you to serve others.

2 Corinthians 6:11 KJV: O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged.

So, walk in love and serve others so you can become great in God!
