Fulfilling Your Destiny 2
(week 12/06)
Olubi Johnson

In our article last week, we saw every human being has a 3-part destiny: in the book of life, the holy city and things written in the Word of God.

Furthermore, we saw that in the Word it is your destiny to be conformed to the image of Christ in this lifetime; to live in divine healing, health and prosperity and live long.

Now it is walking and developing the love of God that will enable you to fulfill your destiny:

Psalms 91:14-16 NKJV: Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.

The name of God is the character of God which is love (1 Jn. 4.8, 16): so if you know God’s love and set your love upon Him God will set you on high, give you long life and show His salvation and so you will fulfill your destiny.

In fact it is the degree to which you develop the love of God that will determine the degree to which you fulfill your destiny.

o the one condition that will cause you to fulfill your destiny is the condition of walking in and developing to perfection: maturity, the love of God by the power of the Holy Spirit and the written Word using the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

Romans 13:8-10 NKJV: Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Galatians 5:14 NKJV: For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

1 John 2:5 NKJV: But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him.

Jude 20-21 NKJV: But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Now, if you develop the love of God in your heart and life then you can avoid the mistakes of:

1. Jonathan who put natural relationships above spiritual relationships (Mt. 10.37-39,); rather you will be like Ruth who loved God and Naomi more than her own people (Ru. 1.16,17) and so fulfilled her destiny.

2. Joab who had a streak of rebellion in him that made him rebuke David (2 Sam. 19.1-7 cp 1 Tim. 5.1) at David’s time of weakness after Absalom had been killed. Joab did not deal with this streak of rebellion and so wound up supporting the rebellion of Adonijah (1King. 1.5-7) and was subsequently executed (1 King. 2.28-34): He did not fulfill his destiny and his is not among the mighty men of David: his part in the written Word was removed (1 Chr. 11. 11-47). Do not be like Joab, rather be like David who still reverenced Saul and refused to kill him when he had the opportunity to (1 Sam. 24. 1-21; 26. 5-25).

3. Gehazi who missed his destiny because of covetousness: a heart that was not content with God’s present level of financial and material provision for him (2 King. 5.20-27). Rather be like Elisha who was content to ‘pour water on the hands of Elijah’ (2 Kg. 3.11) and followed Elijah closely even when Elijah made it difficult and discouraged him from doing so (2 Kg. 2.1-15).

So to fulfill the fulness of your destiny develop the love of God to perfection
