DOING GOD’S WILL
(week 52/14)
OLUBI JOHNSON

We wish ALL our readers a victorious, healthy, wealthy and destiny fulfilling New Year in Christ – Pastors Olubi and Sarah Johnson

John 1:13 KJV: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Here the scripture reveals to us 3 wills:

1. The will of God

2. The will of man

3. The will of the flesh

As Christians, we are to align our wills with the will of God and DO GOD’S WILL and not the will of the flesh, which really is the will of Satan, operating through the sin-nature in the flesh: soul (will, mind and emotions) and body.

Ephesians 2:2-3 NKJV: in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,  (3) among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

Ephesians 2:2-3 NIV: in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.  (3) All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

It is instructive to note that man’s will, either be subject to God’s will or Satan’s will through the sin-nature in the flesh and in the mind: THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS!

The kernel of this article is to show us HOW to align with and do God’s will so that we will not be forced by the power of Satan in the air, mind and flesh to do his will.

Doing the will of God is only possible by releasing a SUFFICIENT measure of the power of God into our soul: will, mind, emotion and body.

Psalms 110:2-3 KJV: The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.  (3) THY PEOPLE SHALL BE WILLING IN THE DAY OF THY POWER, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

Observe that it is the power of God that from the rod of strength out of Zion ruling in the midst of the enemy of the carnal mind (Rom.8.7) and flesh that will make God’s people willing.

Romans 8:7 NKJV: Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

Romans 8:7-13 NIV: the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.  (8) Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.  (9) You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.  (10) But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.  (11) And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.  (12) Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.  (13) For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live,

How then do we get and release ENOUGH strength to do God’s will?

By becoming a man of God’s right hand:

Psalms 80:17-18 AMP: Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, upon the son of man whom You have made strong for Yourself.  (18) Then will we not depart from You; revive us (give us life) and we will call upon Your name.

How do we become a man of God’s right hand who He makes strong for Himself and so give us His life that will empower us NOT TO DEPART FROM HIS WILL?

By the blood (Heb.13.20-21), the Word (1 Jn.2.5) and the Spirit, so hooking up to the intercessory prayers of the Lord Jesus at God’s right hand THROUGH PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT (TONGUES AND TRAVAIL 1 COR 14.2, ROM. 8.26, EPH. 6.18)

Romans 8:26-27 NIV: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  (27)And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

1Corinthians 14:2 NKJV: For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, IN THE SPIRIT he speaks mysteries.

Jude 1:20 AMP: But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit;

As we watch and pray in this manner CONSISTENTLY, we will not enter into temptation and so ALWAYS DO THE WILL GOD!

Matthew 26:40-41 NKJV: Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?  (41) Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Matthew 26:42-44 NKJV: Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”  (43) And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.  (44) So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
