THE SURE MERCIES OF DAVID 2_2019

It is also instructive to note that according to Ps. 89:28-33, the mercies of God can be extended to your children, grandchildren and descendants, like David’s mercies were to his biological and spiritual descendants.

For instance, it was David’s mercies (2 Kgs.19:34) that preserved Hezekiah from being invaded (2 Kgs.18:13-19:37) by Sennacherib of Assyria and preserved the life of his rebellious son Manasseh (2 Chr.33:1-9) from destruction to the point where Manasseh genuinely repented (2 Chr. 33:10-20) after severe chastening as promised in Ps. 89:30-33.

Also it takes an honest and humble heart to honour our parents, BOTH physical and spiritual, EVEN when they don’t deserve it but simply because God commands it; when we do this, God’s mercy is guaranteed and released upon us to give us a long and good life.

Ephesians 6:2-3 KJV:  Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) (3)  That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

The lesson here is that an honest and humble heart is NOT NATURAL: it has to be developed and maintained by constant exercise with God’s Word and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 24:16 KJV: And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

Deuteronomy 30:11 NKJV:  “For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off.

Deuteronomy 30:14 NKJV:  But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

Why do we need the mercies of God?

  1. Not to be consumed (Lam.3:22).
  1. Not to faint or become discouraged (2 Cor. 4:1).
  1. To be faithful (1 Cor.7:25).
  1. To triumph ALWAYS (Rom.9:16, 2 Cor.2:14).

Also you can use the mercy of God to receive the cleansing of the blood of Jesus from all unrighteousness, the life of God and the power of God SIMULTANEOUSLY simply saying:

“Lord have mercy on me and so I receive the cleansing of the blood, the life and power of God in sufficient measure’’.

Hebrews 8:12 NKJV:  For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Jude 1:21 NKJV:  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Acts 1:8 KJV:  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

While we MUST use and grow our faith to grow spiritually and inherit the promises of God (Heb.6:12); it is the superposition of God’s mercies UPON His grace through our faith (Eph. 2:8) that preserves us and guarantees our ultimate victory.

So we develop and maintain the attitudes of honesty and humility of heart by DAILY keeping our hearts with all diligence, by using the mercy of God to SIMULTANEOUSLY receive the cleansing of the blood, and the life and power of God to practice these following instructions:

Proverbs 4:23-27 KJV:  Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. (24)  Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you. (25)  Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you. (26)  Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. (27)  Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.

Deuteronomy 6:5-7 KJV:  And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (6)  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: (7)  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
