BLESSING GOD

Luke 24:52-53 LITV And worshiping Him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, (53) and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

Here, the scripture reveals that the disciples returned to Jerusalem after the ascension of Christ and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God.

Can you bless God? What do you have that God does not have that you want to bless Him with?

Yes we can bless God, because to bless someone is to give something good to a person by divine ability.

Now, we need to understand that God breathed out a part of Himself to make man and when we praise and thank God we are releasing a part of the divine life in us back to God and this refreshes and blesses Him.

Genesis 2:7 LITV And Jehovah God formed the man out of dust from the ground, and blew into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Our words are spiritual and contain the life of God, when our hearts are full of the life of God, so our words of praise and thanksgiving minister divine life back to God who gave it to us originally.

Luke 6:45 LITV The good man brings forth good out of the good treasure of his heart. And the evil man brings forth evil out of the evil treasure of his heart, for his mouth speaks out of the abundance of his heart.

Proverbs 18:21 ESV Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

John 6:63 ESV It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

So God “eats” of the fruit of life of the spiritual sacrifices of our praise and thanksgiving:

Song of Solomon 4:12-16 ESV (12) A garden locked is my sister, my bride, a spring locked, a fountain sealed. (13) Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranates with all choicest fruits, henna with nard, (14) nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense, myrrh and aloes, with all choice spices– (15) a garden fountain, a well of living water, and flowing streams from Lebanon. (16) Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden, let its spices flow. Let my beloved come to his garden, and eat its choicest fruits.

It is for this reason we are exhorted to give thanks to God continually:

Hebrews 13:15 ESV Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.

Colossians 4:2 ESV Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV (16) Rejoice always, (17) pray without ceasing, (18) give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

By doing this we give back to God some of the life He gave us originally and so we continually refresh and bless Him!

Romans 11:36 ESV For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
